Work moves by coordinate.

The operator stands inside the machine.

An operator who stands where the work is, and work that moves to a place instead of along a path.

The machine becomes a place a person can enter, and a run sealed on one machine continues on another.

Talk to us

Work moves to a place, not along a path.

The operator stands where the work is

A window reports what a machine did. Telos puts the operator inside the machine.

What the operator reads is the run itself, from the place it is happening, so a decision is made where the work is and not in a report about it.

The same position is what makes a fleet readable: every machine is a place, and the operator moves between them without leaving the space.

Work is named by its place, and it lands there

A goal is written with the coordinate of the place it belongs to. It lands at the runner node that holds that place, and nothing between the two points is walked, indexed, or scanned.

A person, an agent, and a machine receive the same address, so a handover between them costs no translation.

A machine on the other side of the world is reached the same way as one on the same desk.

The live state of a run

What moves is the state of a run at that moment: what the machine sees, what bounds it, and what it is about to do.

Because the state travels, the person who receives it can read the run while it moves, and replay what it saw before the moment they arrived.

A run is sealed where it stands, and built again where it lands

A workspace is not a process image. It is sealed as three things: the name of the work, the history that produced it, and the part the history does not reach. The destination builds the workspace from those three, and the run continues under the same name.

Authority is issued at the destination inside the bounds the source already held, so a move never widens what the operator may do.

A machine that cannot carry the whole workspace states which part it leaves out, and the record carries that statement. A run that arrived reduced reads as a reduced run.

The identity is held by the record. The machine that carries it is replaceable.

Who stands inside

A fleet operator
A team that has to act inside a machine at the moment it acts, and cannot wait for a report to be assembled.
An auditor
A reader who has to see what the machine saw, from the machine's own position, at the moment it acted.
A team that works in two places
Work that starts on a desk and continues on a machine somewhere else, under the same record and the same authority.

The alternative is a screen that shows a result after the fact, which is the thing this layer exists to replace.

Move the operator, not the data

If an operator has to stand inside a run rather than watch it, we should talk.

Tell us where the operator sits today, and we will show you the same position taken inside the machine.
